Help, answers and how to reach us

Need help with AeroChat? Email [email protected]. A real person who works on AeroChat reads every message.

Please mention your phone model, its iOS or Android version, and whether the people you were trying to reach used iPhone or Android.

Frequently asked questions

I don't see anyone in the People tab

Other people need AeroChat open too. Check that Bluetooth is on and that AeroChat has Bluetooth permission. Airplane mode switches Bluetooth off on many phones, so turn Bluetooth back on after enabling airplane mode. On iPhone, keep AeroChat open with the screen on, as iOS pauses the mesh in the background.

Is it allowed on a plane?

Most airlines allow Bluetooth in airplane mode, and AeroChat uses nothing else. Always follow the crew's instructions.

How far does it reach?

A direct Bluetooth link covers a few rows. Every phone running AeroChat relays messages onward, so the more people use it, the further your messages travel.

How do I join a group?

Create a group with any name, such as row-23, and tell people the name. Anyone who types exactly the same name joins the same room.

Where did my messages go?

Messages are kept in memory only. When the app is closed, they are gone. Nothing is stored on a server, because there is none.

Are my messages private?

No. Messages are not encrypted and are relayed through other passengers' phones. Do not send anything you would not say out loud in the cabin. See the privacy policy.

How do I stop AeroChat?

Turn the mesh off in Settings, tap Stop in the notification on Android, or swipe the app away. Nothing keeps running afterwards.

Can iPhone and Android users chat together?

Yes. Both apps speak the same protocol and join the same mesh.
