FOSSPass / Privacy
FOSSPass privacy policy
FOSSPass is an offline wallet for loyalty cards, tickets and passes. It has no account and no server, and it makes no network connections at all. Nothing you put into the app ever leaves your device.
What stays on your device
- The passes and cards you add: their names, barcode type and value, and colours.
- The
.pkpassfiles you import, including their images and fields.
Everything is kept in a local database and in local files in the app's storage. There is no sync, no backup to us and no cloud. If your device is backed up to iCloud, Google or a computer, this storage may be included in that backup, which is handled by Apple, Google and you, not by us.
Camera
FOSSPass can use the camera so you can scan a card's barcode instead of typing it. Camera frames are processed on the device only to read the barcode, and are neither stored nor sent anywhere. The permission is optional. You can always type a card number by hand.
Files you import
When you import a .pkpass file, FOSSPass reads only the
file you picked or shared with it, and stores the result locally. It
does not scan your device for other files.
Screen brightness
FOSSPass temporarily raises the screen brightness while a barcode is shown, so scanners can read it. This only changes a device setting. No data is involved.
What FOSSPass does not do
- No network requests of any kind: no analytics, crash reporting SDKs, ads, advertising identifier, tracking or profiling.
- No account or sign-in, and no contact details collected.
- No data sold or shared, because no data is collected.
App Store and Google Play
You download FOSSPass from Apple's App Store or Google Play. Apple and Google process data about your purchase and download under their own privacy policies. If you have agreed in your device settings to share analytics with app developers, they may send us aggregated, anonymous usage statistics and crash reports. These do not identify you, and we only use them to fix problems in the app.
Children
FOSSPass is a general-purpose utility. It collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and erase personal data, and to object to its processing. Because FOSSPass does not send your data to us, we hold nothing about you from the app. To remove everything, delete your passes in the app or uninstall it. If you write to us, we only use your email to reply and delete the conversation when it is no longer needed. You can also lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (dataprotectionauthority.be).
Changes to this policy
If FOSSPass ever starts handling data differently, we will update this policy at this address and change the date at the top before the new version of the app is released.
Who we are
FOSSPass is made by Faber Futuri, Leuven, Belgium (VAT BE 1028.556.920). For any question about this policy or your data, email [email protected].
