Something not working, or a part that will not build? Email [email protected]. A real person who works on CADsmith reads every message.
Please mention your iPad model, iPadOS version and CADsmith version (Settings › General › iPad Storage › CADsmith). A screenshot or the STEP file you were working on helps a lot.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an Apple Pencil?
No. CADsmith is designed for fingers. One finger draws and picks, two fingers orbit, pan and zoom. A Pencil works too, but nothing requires it.
Which iPads are supported?
Any iPad that runs iPadOS 18 or later.
How do I enter an exact size?
Tap any value, such as a dimension label or the distance next to the extrude handle, and the keypad opens. Type the number and tap Set. The first key you press replaces the value shown.
How do I change something I made earlier?
Open History with the clock button in the toolbar and tap the feature. It reopens with its values, and everything after it rebuilds when you are done. The menu on each row lets you suppress a feature, roll the model back to it, or delete it.
A feature shows a wrench or a red banner
The edge or face it was attached to no longer exists, usually because an earlier feature changed the shape. CADsmith never guesses a replacement. Tap the wrench, then select the edge or face the feature should use instead.
Which file formats can I use?
You can import STEP (.step, .stp). You can
export STEP for other CAD systems, and STL or 3MF for 3D printing.
Where are my documents stored?
On your iPad. CADsmith has no account and no cloud of its own. Export a part as STEP to keep a copy elsewhere.
Can I undo?
Yes. Use the undo and redo arrows in the toolbar. Dragging a handle counts as a single step.
